postheadericon Memory Card – An essential Accessory for a Digital Camera

When you buy your Digital camera, remember to buy the necessary accessories also. One of the most important accessories is the memory card. When you go on taking your pictures, the built in memory of the camera will store all those images. When there is no more space, you will get the message to the effect that the memory is full. If you have a memory card in your camera, you could avoid the appearance of this message.

Usually, you insert memory card in a slot located next to your battery compartment. There are different types of memory cards. Some of them are called the memory sticks while there are also Compact Flash and smart media cards.

Normally, you get memory cards that have different capacities such as 128 MB, 256 MB and many other capacities. You have the option to withdraw the memory cards from the camera and insert in the card reader of your laptop in order to view, edit or to print the images stored there.

I’ve never used a digital camera before and am wondering about the many accessories or mandatory extras that seem to need to be purchased as well. Memory cards/memory sticks (and which one is better?), USB adaptors, battery packs (rechargeable?), replacement batteries….. I don’t know what’s necessary. I’m just looking for the bare essentials – I definitely don’t need a tripod or special carrying case, etc. I would like to have the cheapest option available, so I can take pictures and transfer them to the computer.
Thanks for the answers so far. I should have specified that it’s about a digital photo camera, not a video camcorder. Also, does it need to have ‘dual’ image stabilization? I understand the optical is necessary…?…
